The city of Orlando has many advantages for people looking to relocate. It offers a wide range of jobs, excellent schools, and plenty of entertainment options. But before you move, consider these pros and cons of living in Orlando.

Pros Of Living In Orlando

1. Weather In Orlando

I think many people who move to Orlando thinking that it is always muggy and hot, but that is not true entirely.

I am sure some will think this is not a pro (looking at you California) but I ensure you that once you experience Florida winters you will understand why so many love this state and what it has to offer.

The winters tend to be milder than the summer and while still humid and hot it is the perfect weather to enjoy time outside!

2. Things To Do In Orlando

Before coming to Orlando I lived in Sunny Southern California, and sure there is a lot to do there. But I can tell you that when our family arrived and settled in Orlando we were blown away by how much there is to do.

From theme parks to the great outdoors there is so much to explore In central Florida and Orlando. I always say Central Florida is a place where you can enjoy Disney World One day and perfect beaches the next.

If you also enjoy hunting and fishing be prepared to have your fill because there are so many options before you to enjoy that life. Also, shout out to Dino World in Plant City, my son is obsessed with what you offer!

3. Orlando Florida Cost Of Living

Ok so here me out, I understand Florida is not the cheap safe haven it use to be, but compared to many states it is.

When we lived in San Diego California before coming to Orlando we were living in a small 2 bed 2 bath condo on the third floor with 2 kids! Needless to say, my calves were awesome during that time haha! Now fast forward to Orlando and we were able to keep our same income and now can pay the same price as our condo for a single-family home, the true American dream.

While Orlando like the whole country is more expensive If you are coming with the right mindset and plan you can really do more with your dollar than anywhere else.

4. Beaches in Orlando

Ok so this is misleading if you don't already know, there is no beach in Orlando, aside from water parks of course.

Remember Orlando is in the middle of the state so no water other than lakes is nearby but within a short drive (my opinion) there are multiple options that will knock your socks off. The first is clearwater beach and let me tell you if you're coming from the west coast prepare for the craziest experience because gone are the rocky beaches and cold waters, say hello to warm water and silky smooth sand.

Depending on where you are in Orlando it should take an hour to 1.5 hours to hit each coast.

5. Florida Laws

When we decided to leave california some had to do with the cost, but a lot had to do with excess taxes and laws that we felt really forced us to be unamerican really.

Now that doesn't mean Florida is perfect, in fact, there are still issues here just like everywhere else but the increased freedom we have here is why so many decisions to make this journey.

Whether it is lower taxes or the right of the second amendment, Florida has become a pinnacle state in the fight for our freedoms.

Cons Of Living In Orlando

1. Orlando Hurricanes

While I did mention the weather in Florida is a pro overall, it would be ignorant of me to not include it as a con when there are hurricanes. So living in Florida it is natural you will have to go through a hurricane at some point during your life here.

But in talking with locals who have been here longer than I in Orlando, it tends to be sheltered from the major damage, not that flooding isn't an issue but being in the center of the state Orlando tends to have that as a buffer compared to Miami or Jacksonville.

2. Florida Inflation

Ok ok I know, I mentioned Orlando still being a good deal for most but I have to admit that like the rest of the country costs are rising here. As more and more People move to Orlando the competition for homes rises and thus the price continues to increase.

Now, this is also why you reach out to me and the team when moving here because there are still great communities that can help you with your budget.

3. Orlando Crowds

Orlando is a major vacation hub for Florida, and while it has always seen an increase in people during peak tourist season, as more and more people wake up to how awesome Florida is they increase the number of people. This is causing increased traffic and crowds when going to your favorite spots around Orlando.

4. Orlando Wildlife

If you have never been to Florida or the Orlando area you are in for a big surprise, everything is out to get you! That's a small joke but in all seriousness, there is much wildlife that you may not be used to sharing this world with and the top of that list is gators.

Now I will say that you do not always run into them and if you are in the city you probably will never see them but it's not like the north or west coast where you can jump into any body of fresh water, be smart when going outdoors and talk to locals who know the safe areas and how to handle certain situations.

5. Orlando Sports

If you were like me you would enjoy going to sports games from time to time. the unfortunate thing with Orlando is that there is only a major league basketball team. maybe that's the only sport you're into and that's a great thing but for those like me, football and hockey are life.

Thankfully in Tampa, you have those Sports and it is only an hour to an hour and a half away. I'd say with everything Orlando has this could be a trade-off or it could be a deal-breaker.

Conclusion

Overall there is pro and cons to living in Orlando, but it all comes down to our personal situations. I hope the above information helped you start to make a clear picture of whether or not Orlando is the right place for you.
